I was a passenger in a car that hit a deer. The officer did all of the usual conversation with the driver and after that walked around the car and requested to see my drivers license. I responded that I didn’t mean to be rude but I didn’t know I needed a license to be a passenger in a car. He gave a BS excuse that I could claim to be injured later and it needed to be on record. They have been doing this for years. Illegally no doubt. I’m sure my white privilege kept me from being hauled out of the car! My heart goes out to those targeted by these officers.
