IMO, tips should be based on the level of service you get.

I wouldn't be very happy to tip a door dash driver a generous amount, just to find out that they got lost on the way and then dropped it in the street before they delivered it.

Since I would never pay someone to deliver my food vs just picking it up myself maybe I just don't get it. My 20 year old heathy able bodied niece used to have door dash deliver some ice cream from Dairy Queen. I guess I'm too thrifty to spend $10 for a $4 ice cream.
