The first Mother's Day after my mother passed away was very hard [View all]

She had only been gone three months and aside from the grief I was experiencing, I started to feel guilty about having never taken her out to dinner or brunch at a nice restaurant for Mother's Day. But then I started thinking about what I did do for her on Mother's Day. I took her to Bingo, which she loved. I took her to Chicago to see the Cubs, which she loved. I took her to Cincinnati to see the Cubs play the Reds, which she loved. I like to think I gave her good memories for Mother's Day and that she enjoyed those experiences more than going out to eat at a fancy restaurant.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! Give Gramma a kiss for me. Miss you both.
