If you admire and respect Ms Mthonbeni, perhaps you should listen to her. Ms Mthonbeni says, “I am not against renewable energy. South Africa has sun and wind, and we should use them.”

Does that make her an “I’m not an anti-nuke” anti-nuke with “shallow ethics to go with shallow intellects” ? Or just a reasonable person who is not so absurdly obsessed with a particular technology that she is blind to what is actually happening in the world?

My reference to dear Dr. Strangelove was obviously not in response to Mthonbeni, it was a response to your attempt to associate people interested in batteries with that rat Elon Musk. And I’m pretty sure you know that and are trying to exploit Mthonbeni to make the accusation of “giggling over African poverty and suffering”. That’s really pathetic but I’ll just point out, once again, that most countries that maintain relatively large numbers of nuclear reactors, like the US, China, France and Russia, also have active nuclear weapons programs and operate military reactors. They need large nuclear industrial capacity to support military needs. Nuclear reactors are entangled in the legacy of nuclear weapons development and proliferation issues as well. The stench is hard to get rid of. It lingers.
