7. My diverticulitis required colon resection

My diverticulitis kept recurring. The fear is that one or more diverticula will breach the colon wall and result in sepsis—which, of course, can rapidly kill you. The solution was to remove part of the colon. A great young surgeon went in, removed a couple feet of colon, stitched the pieces back together, and Bob’s your’e uncle. I was up walking around in a few hours and remained in the hospital for three days while they waited for a bowel movement. No recurrence of diverticulitis since then.
